5Gi Will Be Embedded in 5G Standards for India and Other Countries: Chairman of TSDSI
According to a senior official of the Indian telecom
standards body TSDSI, a 5G technology standard developed in India has become
part of global standards that will be adopted by companies both locally and
globally.
5Gi is India's first telecom technology standard that will be included in global telecom gear standards for 5G services.
The global standards development body 3GPP has agreed to a plan of action that will allow 5Gi and 5G to be combined.
"The move is a significant step toward achieving
India's goal of improved coverage in rural, remote, and urban areas. The
incorporation of 5Gi requirements into 3GPP 5G standards creates a single
common specification going forward, as well as a single radio access solution
for 5G deployments in India and around the world "N G Subramaniam,
Chairman of the TSDSI, stated
Telecommunications Standards Development Society of India
(TSDSI) advertisements aim to develop and promote India-specific requirements,
standardize solutions for meeting these requirements, and contribute these to
international standards in the field of telecommunications.
Global telecom equipment manufacturers had objected to TSDSI
developing the 5Gi standard for India because it would be separate from global
standards and raise the cost of deploying 5G services in the country.
